Moni snow
There is so much snow here in Seattle - upwards of 9 and 10 inches from snow on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday - that the city is pretty shut down. I can't even get my car out off the street I live on, which is not plowed, onto the streets that have been plowed. And I drove to work on Friday, which was fine until I hit south Seattle, where it seemed the city gave up plowing and then things got interesting. No desire to repeat that. I may have to unbury my car and put my chains on if I ever want to make it to work this week. There is more snow coming Wednesday, some reports say.

This is very very abnormal for Seattle. We aren't guaranteed snow every year and when we do get it, it's usually a dusting that melts before the end of the day. We even made the New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/22/us/22snow.html

If anyone is curious, check out the Ballard blog (Ballard is the neighborhood in Seattle where I live.) http://www.myballard.com/

I will try to work extra hard to update flickr so I can get some snow pictures up today. In the meantime, here is a picture (I think by Dan Savage):

And here are a few of my own pictures:

wow - so much snow. i can't imagine having so much that it needs to be plowed and needing chains. eek. not for me!

my email isn't working right now, so letting you know here that your yule/xmas gift is going to be a little late. :( I finally have it boxed up, but need to find brown paper to wrap in so that it can be mailed. I really wanted you to get it in time, but I've just been so swamped with work that I didn't have time to think about gifts and shop until last week and I needed to take the weekend off to not stress or worry about getting anything done except relax. Planning on going to the post office tomorrow, but don't know how long it'll take for it to arrive.

Well, since I don't really celebrate xmas, how about we call it a new year's gift? Then it should be fine!

Well, when faced with the certain death the white-covered outside world no doubt holds, Thomas is willing to do crazy things to survive, like cling to my shoulders and cry at the top of her lungs for someone, anyone, to rescue her. Most of the time, I can't even keep her in my arms for more than three seconds, and I certainly can't get her to perch on me.
